A recent snapshot of the UK rental market suggests positive signs for landlords and agents, with tenant rent arrears dropping to their lowest point since 2022. According to the latest autumn report from Propertymark, fewer tenants are falling behind on their rent payments — a trend that agent members are describing as encouraging given ongoing pressures in the housing sector.
The report highlights that the proportion of tenants in arrears has reduced significantly, marking the lowest level seen in three years. Many agents also noted a degree of stability in rental prices, with activity in certain regions showing steadiness compared with earlier in 2025.
Propertymark’s findings point to greater resilience in the rental market, even as broader economic and housing challenges continue to impact both landlords and renters.
